In this video we’re going to be talking about embodiment as the fullest expression of spiritual alignment. So often spirituality is thought of as a construct of being outside of oneself transcendent experience that happens in some other dimension, but through the lens of spiritual alignment. We see spirituality as an experience that happens in and through the body. And we’re going to be talking more about embodiment and spirituality. But before we dive into that. I want to let you know that I wrote a book for you. Align: Living and Loving from the True Self is a comprehensive map of how to come back home to the truth of who you are, and how to live from this deeply sacred place within yourself and how to honor your alignment as you connect with the people in your life. Align is available on Amazon and Barnes and Noble Com. And I also created these alignment cards. There’s 48 cards in a deck, and each card has a wisdom teaching and a sentence stem to support you, and living and loving from your true self. These are available on my website, the spiritually aligned.com.

I want to begin by sharing a personal story. I remember the moment that I first felt any inkling of alignment in my body. I was teaching Yoga as an undergraduate. I was in my very early twenties, and I began to feel this strength of the core of my being, and I remembered myself for the first time in what felt like a very, very long time. And I felt like I could fill my body out more with my energy, and that I was really present. And here in this life. When I was about 5 months old. I had a near-death experience where I fell from the top bunk of a bed, and you can see the scar right here. I hit my eyebrow on the dresser on the way down to the floor. and I left my body right here, and and I didn’t want to come back in my body, because my body was a very painful place to be at that point, and I’ve lived with chronic pain my entire life. I have had patterns of disassociation because of this traumatic brain injury. And that moment in my twentys, when I was practicing Yoga and I realized that my body was actually a sacred vessel. That’s a place that I wanted to be, and that my spirituality happened here, not by leaving. I had this full awakening of my alignment of my energy, of the midline of my body.

Learning how to embody that energy in a really grounded practical way that affects my relationships in a Sacred Way, and the work that I do on the planet in a Sacred Way took a lot of time to learn. And yet the practice of coming into the body and listening to the body is essential in our spiritual alignment.

Leonard Orr, who brought breathwork over to the West, back in the 1970’s offered these terms that, I think are extremely helpful in understanding, embodiment, and disembodiment, and these terms are our life verge and our death urge. When we’re in our death urge. We unconsciously think that we need to leave our body, that we need to die in order to get back to universal bliss and to get back to our spiritual self and to connection with the source of life. And so, when we are in our death urge, we have patterns of disassociation. We engage in death, urge behaviors like drinking a lot of alcohol, using a lot of illicit substances that are dissociative, eating a lot of processed foods not moving our body in a way that feels joyful and enlivening and the patterns the death urge patterns keep us in that low, vibrational state that is not in alignment with our fullest, deepest, truest spiritual self.

Our life urge is the experience of being fully here and fully alive in this body, and embodying our spiritual self in such a way that we hold the vibration of spirit simply by being here in this body. The connection of the vitality, the vital force that is moving through our body through our alignment happens with the sensation and the emotional energy that we have in our physical body. So when we have a physical body that has more death, urge energy than life, urge energy, that death urge energy, starts to squelch and dampen our vital force, and that means that our alignment doesn’t move in and through our body in the way that is actually our true design of our health.

When we can listen to the way that our body holds those experiences the wounds that have us believe that we need to leave our body in order to find safety or universal bliss. the emotional energy that we’re holding of unprocessed experiences. When we can meet those experiences in our body with awake awareness we begin to bring in more life, urge into our body our awareness and our breath brought to the pain in service of listening to and honoring the pain until it’s ready to move outside of the body. We then can come more deeply seated in our being and the more our awake awareness comes into our body and we become more embodied. So our body is now occupied by who we truly are. Our alignment emerges naturally and when we’re in our alignment we enjoy life. Life is a blissful, pleasurable experience for us. And any time that we are dreading life, scared of life, want to leave want to just go away or hide under a rock. Those are moments of being in a wound, or a sub personality, or some part of our ego that has us believe that we need to either leave to find safety or control the third dimension, the life around us, our relationships, other people, in order to find safety, and both of those movements pull us out of alignment and the way back to alignment is by disrupting those thoughts, by being curious about how we feel in our body.

Pause in this moment, and just check in. How do you feel in your body right now, and just take a loving breath.

And are you fully here?

Are you fully here in your body, in this sacred vessel? That is your interface, the way that you interact with the world around you in the third dimension full embodiment is full spiritual alignment all the way, not just down to the root, but through the root, not just up to the crown of the head, but up past the crown of the head. This is full embodiment, down through the root, opening up opening up to let life express through us in the way that is designed to be the fullest service to our being and to humanity.

And so with that, I want to let you know that I have courses online to teach you how to facilitate alignment with your clients, and I really believe that when we are doing this work of deepening into our alignment synergistically. As we are guiding our clients into alignment, the energy is actually magnified and amplified in this really really potent way and the the empowerment that happens from these sessions leaves the clinician lit up about the work that we are here to do, and our clients leave feeling super lit up about life, too, if you don’t work with clients and you want to learn more. I also have 2 courses for you. There’s living your alignment and spiritually aligned relationships, and they will empower you to be in your fullest, fullest embodiment.
